Whereas, President Donald J. Trump defied the odds being elected the 45th President of the United States and he continues to defy the odds;

Whereas, President Trump has led the effort that has resulted in the lowest unemployment rates and most robust economic growth in more than a generation, while enduring record levels of aggressive and abusive obstructionism; and

Whereas, President Trump continues to be a powerful catalyst for the infectious levels of optimism, patriotism, and pride not seen in more than a generation in America; now, therefore, be it

Resolution G-2018-101 Demanding Adherence to Our Constitution

To End Federal Overreach

Whereas, America’s history of personal Liberty acting on society and the free market of ideas created the most robust economic success, and set the example of a free society for the entire world;

Whereas, James Madison wrote in Federalist 45 that, “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite”;

Whereas, Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution specifically enumerates the limited powers delegated to the federal government; and

Whereas, It has become routine for the federal government to ignore its constitutional chains, propagating an ever-increasing number of abusive, wasteful agencies corrosive to personal Liberty, which wield excessive control over our prosperity, public lands, rights, families, and lives; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention strongly urges all states to establish historically correct, comprehensive educational standards on our Constitution, and encourages all Americans to become educated about our Constitution; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention demands our state legislators honor their oath of office under Article VI to enforce the Constitution; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention requests the Secretary ensure a copy of this resolution is delivered to each legislator and constitutional officer and distributed to proper media outlets per the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.

Resolution G-2018-102 Demanding Nevada Assist With Immigration Enforcement

Whereas, The Constitution properly delegates all matters relating to immigration to the federal government; and

Whereas, Illegal immigration adversely impacts our society, exposes our citizens to numerous dangers, and significantly increases the national debt; now therefore, be it;

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention demands that the Nevada Legislature make use of any and all legislative devices and any other appropriate actions to ensure Nevada assists the federal government with immigration enforcement, and defeats sanctuary city or sanctuary state movements; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention requests the Secretary ensure a copy of this resolution is delivered to each legislator and constitutional officer, and distributed to proper media outlets per the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.

Resolution G-2018-103 Defending The Free Market Economy

Whereas, Nevada Senate Joint Resolution 6 (SJR 6) seeks to amend the Nevada Constitution to cause a significant rise in the minimum wage;

Whereas, Drastic increases in the minimum wage have been shown to reduce the number of unskilled jobs available in many industries, limiting the ability of people to gain valuable workplace knowledge and earn their way into higher paying occupations; and

Whereas, Significantly increased labor costs can have a devastating effect on new and growing businesses, thereby having a chilling effect on an economy, reducing employment opportunities for all; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, It is improper to specify a minimum wage in the Nevada Constitution; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention demands that the Nevada Legislature defeat SJR 6; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention requests the Secretary ensure a copy of this resolution is delivered to each legislator and constitutional officer, and distributed to proper media outlets per the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.

Resolution G-2018-104 Defending The Current Property Tax Cap

Whereas, The 2016-2017 Nevada Republican Party Platform states, “Residents of the State of Nevada are not under-taxed and state government is not under-funded. Our current budget crisis is the result of years of overspending.” [Budget, Economy and Taxation];

Whereas, Senate Joint Resolution 14 (SJR 14) of the 2017 Nevada Legislature will remove current caps on the rate of property tax increase; and

Whereas, SJR14 would require the Nevada Legislature to pass laws that will dramatically increase property taxes, creating turmoil in the Nevada housing market and overall economy; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention demands that the Nevada Legislature take all possible actions to defeat SJR14 in the 2019 Nevada Legislative Session; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention strongly urges all Republicans in Nevada to be familiar with SJR14, engage neighbors and media, and take any and all action to inform voters of this important issue to ensure SJR14 fails a public ballot vote if the 2019 Nevada Legislature passes it; and

Resolved, The Nevada Republican Convention requests the Secretary ensure a copy of this resolution is delivered to each legislator and constitutional officer, and distributed to proper media outlets per the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.

Resolution G-2018-105 Opposing Annual Sessions of the Nevada Legislature

Whereas, In 1866, as Surrogate of New York County, Gideon J. Tucker wrote, “No man’s life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session.”; and
