Supporting the Leadership of the Nevada Assembly Caucus

Nevada Republican Party Resolution to Protect the Duly-Elected Assembly Republican Leadership

WHEREAS The Nevada Republican Party congratulates the newly elected leaders of the Nevada Republican Assembly Caucus (NRAC); and

WHEREAS Nevadans spoke clearly in the 2014 Midterm Election that they expect leaders with Republican principles and integrity to govern our state, and that as the outgoing Assembly Minority Leader Pat Hickey should set an honorable example for his fellow legislators, much like the positive sentiment expressed in Governor Brian Sandoval’s recent public statements respecting and supporting the duly-elected Assembly Republican leadership; and

WHEREAS The Nevada Republican Party calls upon outgoing Assembly Minority Leader Hickey, Speaker Designate Hambrick and Majority Leader Fiore to work together as a united front to bring all NRAC members together to form both short and long-term plans to work as a cohesive and impenetrable legislative caucus to ensure the NRAC elected Republican Speaker Designate is unanimously elected as Assembly Speaker for the upcoming 78th Nevada Legislative Session; and

WHEREAS credible evidence shows that certain Republican members of the Assembly are planning to work against the duly-elected leadership of the NRAC and join with Assembly Democrats or abstain from voting to unseat the duly elected leadership of the Assembly; and

WHEREAS The Nevada Republican Party calls upon each and every member of the NRAC to sign their pledge that they will not conspire with Nevada Assembly Democrats to thwart the successful election of the NRAC elected Republican Speaker Designate; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Nevada Republican Party asserts that any Nevada Republican Assembly Caucus member who works with Democrats to undermine the elected leadership of their own caucus is acting counter to the intent of Nevada voters, and demands that any caucus members engaged in these actions immediately cease these dishonorable actions or they shall be censured by the Nevada Republican Party; and

RESOLVED That the Nevada Republican Party will call upon the NRAC to immediately remove any Republican Assembly member who fails to support their leadership from the NRAC; and

RESOLVED That the Nevada Republican party will support any efforts, up to and including recall, to hold any NRAC member who fails to support their leadership accountable.

RESOLVED That the Secretary of the Nevada Republican Party shall ensure this resolution, as passed, is delivered to Speaker Designate John Hambrick and all Republican members of the Nevada Assembly, and the Chairs of each Nevada Republican central committee within 24 hours.
